Developments

I was finally able to set aside some time today to contact Travisa Outsourcing regarding the nature of my Indian visa. When it was issued last month, the date of expiry was listed as September 10, 2010, which would put me in India when it expired. This being a serious problem, I wished to appeal this apparent decision on the Consulate's part.

Their response this evening was quite reassuring - the visa had been filed for a full year, not six months. They messed up the date on my visa. Hopefully, this will go through entirely as-planned.

Additionally, they informed me that it is possible for me to travel to India on my visa and apply for my protected area permit over there at the local Foreigner's Registration Office. This means that it is entirely possible for me to travel over there right now.

With this information in-hand, a plan has come together. As I have just obtained something of a raise at work, I will spend the next two months working here. During that time, I intend to get my cat vaccinated and study up as much as I can, make a few lesson plans and whatnot; additionally, I will be working on a few of my nearly-completed side projects in the hope that I might have a little bit of extra cash flow while I'm over there. Towards the end of May, I hope to be flying to Bangalore, where I will catch either a bus or train out to Hubli where the monastery will pick me up; from there, I'll be spending the following months in Mundgod, where I will be teaching primarily English, but additionally whatever subjects need to be taught.

Things are coming together. This is going to work out.
